SCRIPTURE: Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” (Lk. 8:50 NIV)
But on hearing this, Yeshua answered him, “Don’t be afraid! Just go on trusting, and she will be made well.” (Lk. 8:50 CJB)
OBSERVATION: To “just believe” means to trust and keep on trusting. Jesus is asking us to trust him. He identifies the mortal enemy of trust as fear. “Don’t be afraid,” he says. Our Master is telling us in all life’s situations to resist fear and choose to totally trust him instead. As James wrote: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (Jas. 4:7). The first step in obedience to God is to choose to trust him!
APPLICATION: I confess that I have submitted to fear and worry too often. I choose today to resist fear and submit myself to God my Father who loves me. I choose to trust the One who created the universe and for whom nothing is impossible!
PRAYER: Abba, forgive me for allowing fear in my life. I stand within the authority of Jesus that you have given me and I command fear and worry to go! In this moment, I choose trust you Lord in every area of my life. I ask you to fill me faith today.
